[Updated] Upcoming Personal Finance Events In Singapore You Should Attend In 2019

Increasingly, we are able to learn important and useful personal finance information by just spending time online – either reading personal finance websites, such as the one you’re currently on, watching explainer videos, attending webinars, downloading e-books and many other ways.

This doesn’t mean there is no value to attending physical events, where you get to listen to the speaker explain his thought process, engage in Q&A sessions the specialist and interact with other like-minded participants.

So here is a list of upcoming personal finance events you can attend to level up your personal finance, investing, and insurance game!

#1 Fixed Income Conference – The Search For Yield In Growing Wealth

We all know that a balanced investment portfolio should consist of a mix of asset classes, including fixed income investments, commonly known as bonds.

While metrics and ratios for evaluating stocks are widely discussed, many investors are less equipped to evaluate various bonds available for investing and understand the risks involved.

This conference help give Singapore investors a good foundational knowledge and the confidence to add bonds to their portfolio. It is organised by Securities Investors Association (Singapore) and supported by SGX and MoneySense.

#2 Planning for Your Loved Ones with Special Needs

Caregivers with loved ones with special needs will undoubtedly be concerned about how their dependents can be taken care of (at least financially) when the caregivers are no longer around.

This workshop introduces some of the considerations and actual vehicles available to help caregivers safeguard their loved ones’ financial interests for life, including trust services, CPF-Special Needs Savings Scheme, and estate planning scenarios.

The workshop is conducted by the Special Needs Trust Company (SNTC), a non-profit trust company that provides affordable trust management services for persons with special needs. It is a registered charity and an Institution of a Public Character.

#3 Singapore Kidpreneurs Bazaar 2019

We all know that inculcating good personal finance habits and the spirit of entrepreneurship should begin young. For those with kids, here’s an event for you and your entire family.

The 5th Singapore Kidpreneur’s Bazaar is coming up, featuring 40 different stalls over 2 days. Designed to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, the Bazaar is also a platform for 5 to 16 year olds to showcase their business chops.

There will also be various fringe activities and programmes on stage, such as Kidpreneur sharing sessions, interactive games for the whole family, and craft sessions. You can check out their event page on Facebook for more details.

#4 CPF Retirement Planning  Roadshows

The CPF board has kicked-off its latest round of retirement planning roadshows to close out the year, with the theme The Future is Closer Than You Think. Be Ready with CPF. The first round of roadshows happened last weekend, with 4 more weekends to go.
