Based on the recent adjustments to safe management measures, all gyms and fitness studios are required to close from 8 May to 13 June 2021. Currently, only low-intensity training is allowed, with a mask on at all times. Any other form of resistance or strength training is not permitted indoors. This includes one-to-one personal training, except in an outdoor setting. Popular strength exercise classes would be disrupted with these new measures in place. This includes classes such as BODYPUMP™ and weighted aerobics. Regardless, the cessation of strength training does not mean that we can’t continue our strength exercises at home.
For fitness enthusiasts who relies on weighted strength exercises classes to keep toned while having a fun outlet to destress, here is a list of online classes to sign up for.

Before Joining Online Strength Exercise Classes
For an equipment-based strength exercise class, we would need weights that we can use at home. For beginners, it is important to make sure we don’t use the heaviest weight for our first class to avoid injury. A rough gauge on the weights we should be using is that it should be about 40% to 70% of the maximum weight we can carry. We can check with the instructors before the class on the recommended weights. The intensity of the class can also be adjusted by picking up heavier weights or switching between light and heavyweights, depending on the instructor style.
If we have not already gotten our weights during last year’s circuit breaker, we can always order them online from Decathlon or Shopee.
Here are some basic equipment’s we would use during weighted fitness classes:
Dumbbells: Fitness 3 Kg Dumbbells Twin-Pack – $18
Kettle bell: Kettlebell 4 Kg – $16
Barbells: Rubberised Barbell Set – $109 to $325
