We are well into December now so the Christmas spirit is all around with various events and celebrations taking place. One of the things many of us might be thinking about is gifts to buy our loved ones.
Traditionally, Christmas might be one time of the year where we buy something special or spend a bit more money on “quality” items. That could mean buying a luxury branded good but the problem with that is that a Louis Vuitton bag, for example, isn’t exactly an affordable gift.
However, that doesn’t mean that “luxury” Christmas gifts are a complete write-off. In fact, you could buy luxury gifts that are small and potentially, in a price range that many of us might consider affordable.
So, with that in mind, here are some ”luxury” Christmas gift ideas that we might actually be able to afford.
#1 Apple Watch Hermes Straps
Hermes is, of course, known for its Birkin bag. But for those of us who don’t feel like dropping tens of thousands of Singapore dollars on a handbag, there are more affordable options as gifts. One of them is the Apple Watch Hermes strap that comes in three forms – leather, rubber and fabric.
For example, the Band Apple Watch Hermes Single Tour 42mm – a single tour band in gold Swift calfskin leather – retails for S$559 at Hermes. It’s a classy 42mm band that matches the dimensions of the Apple Watch Series 10. However, the band is also compatible with Apple Watch 40mm and 41mm cases.
The leather band is the more premium band due to its material while the rubber and fabric (nylon) Apple Watch straps by Hermes retail for a slightly lower price point of S$499.
#2 Chanel Le Coton Cotton Pads
If you’re looking to buy a gift for someone who uses makeup regularly then you can’t go wrong with picking up a box of Chanel’s Le Coton pads. These soft cotton pads are suitable for use with makeup removers, cleansers and toners.
The plush and entwined fibres provide a cushioned feel and the pads are highly absorbent and lint-free. Even better, the pads are embossed with the classic “Double C” monogram that Chanel is known for.
Each box contains 100 pads and retails for just US$28 (S$38).
#3 Dior Notebooks
For those who have a habit of journaling or taking down notes, perhaps a notebook from Dior could be the perfect gift that is practical and aesthetic at the same time.
Dior released its own series of notebooks that come adorned with its iconic Toile De Jouy motifs, the similar ones that graced the walls of Dior’s first ever boutique. The Dior notebooks are classy-looking and come in either gray or blue hues, retailing for S$120.
Manufactured in France, the notebooks have a hardcover and 72 pages of lined paper.
#4 Prada Stainless Steel Cutlery Sets
If you’re working in the CBD and find the food options both expensive and limited, then you may be thinking of preparing your lunch from home.
Of course, in the age of environmentally-conscious consumption, we want to encourage the usage of reuseable cutleries. One of the best ways to do that is to have a cutlery set ready to have on the go. Prada provides that with its stainless steel cutlery sets that come in a pouch made of its signature Re-Nylon material created from purified and recycled plastic debris in the ocean.
The pouch also features the Prada logo metal patch that many shoppers are familiar with. The set comes with a spoon, fork and knife and retails for S$650.
#5 YSL Lipstick
Another luxury branded gift you may consider is Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Loveshine Candy Glaze lipstick.
The lipstick gives users a glassy and shiny lip look and has the beauty benefits of a lip balm. The non-sticky formula means your lips will be moisturised while also looking juicy at the same time.
Infused with hyaluronic acid and pomegranate extract ,the lipstick aims to help provide you with a plumper lip look. The lipstick comes in a variety of shades and retails for S$63 on YSL’s online site.
#6 Gucci Specialised Fit Square-Frame Sunglasses
Gucci has a range of stylish accessories that certainly make for a good gift and some of them do come within a relatively reasonable price range. One of those is its specialised fit square-frame sunglasses.
These sunglasses come in shiny tortoiseshell injection frames and the temple frames feature an interlocking “G” of the Gucci logo. The sunglasses provide 100% UVA/UVB protection and are made in Japan.
They also come in a velvet case, available in a range of six jewel-toned colours and with a coordinated satin lining. The Gucci specialised fit square-frame sunglasses retail for S$530.
