As Singapore stays home to curb the spread of COVID-19, the majority of retail shops are closed, with the exception of supermarkets and food and beverage establishments. This has seen many people turning to online shopping to get what they need, and have it delivered to their doorstep.
But what if online shopping during this period can also be a rewarding experience?
Enter the OCBC Titanium Rewards Card’s 20X OCBC$ Promotion, which rewards OCBC Titanium Rewards cardmembers of up to additional 19 times OCBC$ for every dollar they spend at selected merchants, up to a cap of $500. This is promotion is in conjunction with its existing 10X Rewards Programme that OCBC Titanium Rewards Cardmembers earn on a usual basis, making this promotion even more attractive.
Here are some of the eligibility criteria and mechanics of how you can earn extra OCBC$ right from the comfort of your home.
Registering For The OCBC$ Promotion
To be eligible for earning the bonus OCBC$, you will need to hold the OCBC Titanium Rewards Card, and be the first 5,000 cardmembers to successfully register for the promotion via the online form.
After registering your OCBC Titanium Rewards Card for the promotion, you should charge your card to the following merchants during the promotion period, which ends 31 May 2020 (date inclusive), to earn the bonus OCBC$:
Additional 19X OCBC$ | Additional 10X OCBC$ |
NTUC FairPrice (Excluding Fairprice Xpress) | Amazon |
Watsons | Lazada |
Guardian | Shopee |
Deliveroo | Qoo10 |
Foodpanda | |
Netflix |
Do note that the bonus points will only be awarded on the first $500 spent using the registered card, and points will be awarded for both retail and online spend and will be awarded on 30 June 2020.
Transactions relating to insurance premiums or instalment payment plans are excluded from earning bonus OCBC$. The transaction must be posted (i.e. reflected as charged) to your card account before the bonus OCBC$ can be awarded.
How To Earn Bonus OCBC $ Reward Points
As mentioned earlier, this promotion runs in conjunction with the existing 10X Rewards Programme that cardmembers will earn on local and overseas shopping, department store, and online transactions.
As such, for purchases made on online shopping sites such as Amazon, Lazada, Shopee and Qoo10, you will first earn a bonus 9 times the OCBC$ on the card transaction, before an additional 10 times the OCBC$ on the spending will be awarded to you.
In this case, you should be receiving your first bonus 9 times OCBC$ by the end of the next calendar month following the transaction posting date (in this case either 31 May or 30 June 2020), and the additional 10 times OCBC$ will be awarded by 30 June 2020.
Below is an example of how one will earn the bonus points using the card:
Example | Usual OCBC$ earning rate | Existing 10X Rewards Programme (Bonus 9X OCBC$) |
20X Rewards Programme (Bonus 10X or 19X OCBC$) |
Total 20X OCBC$ earned |
Customer A spends $500 at Lazada, transaction posted 20 April 2020 | 500 OCBC$ earned | 4,500 OCBC$ earned and awarded by May 2020 | 5,000 OCBC$ earned and awarded by 30 June 2020 | 10,000 OCBC$ |
Customer B spends $200 at NTUC Fairprice, transaction posted on 20 May 2020 | 200 OCBC$ earned | Not applicable | 3,800 OCBC$ earned and awarded by 30 June 2020 | 4,000 OCBC$ |
Do note that regardless of your spending, the maximum bonus OCBC$ one can earn is 9,500 OCBC$, which is capped at the maximum $500 worth of spending at the merchants (i.e. 19 OCBC$ multiplied by $500 spending on the card)
Stay Home And Be Rewarded For Shopping Online
The OCBC Titanium Rewards Card is already a compelling card that allows cardmembers to earn bonus reward points for shopping at online and offline retailers.
During this “Circuit Breaker” period, the bonus points on online transactions, especially the inclusion of essential services such as supermarkets, pharmacies and food delivery services, as well as entertainment and shopping merchants, should make it a compelling reason for one to stay at home as much as possible. In this case, make your stay-at-home period worthwhile with the card, and play a role in flatting the curve during this “circuit breaker”.
