Due to a short distance and favourable exchange rate, some residents in Singapore would often cross the border to Johor to shop around for groceries or other items.
One of the popular destinations to shop in Johor is the Johor Premium Outlets (JPO), an outlet mall that offers an eclectic mix of 150 stores. Aside from luxury designer brands, patrons can also buy sportswear, accessories, household items, food and beverages.
What To Shop
Opened in 2011, the Johor Premium Outlets has 150 stores sprawled across 45 acres of land. The outlet mall features a hodgepodge of shopping categories such as gifts and jewelry, with fashion having the most extensive selection of brands, including Bottega Veneta, Calvin Klein, Christian Louboutin, Coach, Fendi, Ferragamo, Gucci, Hackett, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, Longchamp, North Face, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Tory Burch, Valentino and Versace.
If you are looking to purchase everyday pieces, there are also household brands such as Adidas, Anta, Asics, G2000, Hush Puppies, New Balance, Nike, Puma, Rip Curl and Under Armour.
For those with your little ones in tow, you can drop by kids stores such as Polo Ralph Lauren Children, Animation World and CoComelon Play Centre.
There are also shops selling gifts and household items from well-known brands such as Godiva, Le Creuset, Montigo, Typo and Bath and Body Works.
Shopping around can take up a lot of energy but you can always recharge at restaurants and family rooms within Johor Premium Outlets. Other amenities such as lockers, stroller rental, baby changing rooms and kids’ play areas are also available.
How Much Can You Save
Outlet malls tend to sell items at cheaper prices compared to retail stores. This is perhaps because outlet stores carry items that are from past seasons with limited sizes. Some outlet stores may also have designs that are slightly different from those in the retail stores.
For example, during a recent sale on 13 February 2025, Poney Outlet had offered discounts on kids’ clothing, shoes and school essentials. Customers were able to enjoy a deal of paying only RM99 (S$30.10) for three Poney short sleeve tees, instead of the normal price of RM49 (S$14.90) each.
If a customer had at the time bought tees that were on offer at Poney Outlet, they would have gotten them at the price of RM99 (S$30.10) for three tees, saving them RM48 (S$14.59) in total on three tee shirts.
Kate Spade also had offered storewide discounts of 60% to 65% in January 2025. Customers get to spin a wheel to unlock any of three deals, which are 60% discount with purchase of two items, 65% discount with purchase of three items including one bag and 65% discount with purchase of two handbags. The items on sale included crossbody wallet bags.
A similar crossbody wallet bag retails for RM1,400 (S$425.66) at the Kate Spade retail store. Assuming that the bags had the same price, customers who managed to get the 65% discount deal on handbags could purchase the crossbody wallet bags for around RM500 (S$152.02) each, saving them RM900 (S$273.64) per bag.
It seems like outlet stores tend to dish out deals more regularly. Customers may have to fulfil some conditions to be able to enjoy the deals such as buying a certain number of items or selected items.
Getting There
The Johor Premium Outlets is accessible via a few modes of transportations. If you’re flying in, the outlet mall is situated only a five to 10 minutes’ drive from the Senai International Airport. You can purchase coupons to pay for your taxi fare directly at a counter in front of the Aeromall main entrance in the airport. Otherwise, you can also get e-hailing rides to the mall.
For those who are driving from Singapore, you can get to Johor Premium Outlets via Woodlands or Second Link. From Sultan Iskandar CIQ JB, once you get on the North South Expressway, take Exit 253 – North Senai.
If you’re travelling from Tuas, after getting on the Second Link Expressway, take Exit 304 – Senai Selatan Interchange.
Accommodations
Situated strategically in the town of Kulai, the Johor Premium Outlets is around a 30 minutes’ drive from other attractions such as Legoland Malaysia and Danga Bay.
If you’re planning to include Johor Premium Outlets in your itinerary on a longer trip, there are several accommodations that you can consider including Impiana Hotel Senai, which provides complimentary shuttle service to the outlet mall. The shuttle service sends patrons from the hotel to the outlet mall at 3pm and picks them up from the mall back to the hotel at 9.30pm. Situated a few minutes’ drive from Johor Premium Outlets and Senai International Airport, Impiana Hotel Senai is a business hotel with airport transfer, valet service and facilities such as a gym and infinity pool. The price of its deluxe rooms with a king size bed or twin beds starts from RM299 (S$90.91) per night.

Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor has three golf courses in nature settings and facilities including a fully-equipped gym, bowling alley, tennis court, squash court and multiple swimming pools. A check on Agoda showed that a deluxe king bed room at the resort costs around RM200 (S$60.81). Due to high demand, it’s best to book your accommodation here early to avoid disappointment.
