By now, most Singaporeans should be familiar with the LifeSG app. It’s where families have to register the birth of their child and apply for Baby Bonus; past and present NSmen received $200 in National Service (NS) LifeSG Credits during Budget 2024; and everyone can check on their SkillsFuture credits (as well as access other Government schemes).
Following the Singapore Budget 2025 announcements last year, there was renewed interest in the LifeSG app. PM Lawrence Wong announced two new LifeSG credit disbursements:
1) A one-off Child LifeSG Credits worth $500 for each Singaporean child aged 12 and below this year. Families with children born between 2013 to 2024 will get their Child LifeSG Credits in July 2025, while those with children born in 2025 will receive the Child LifeSG Credits in April 2026.
In the Singapore Budget 2026, an additional $500 in Child LifeSG Credits will be provided to families for each Singaporean child aged 12 and below. This will be disbursed in July 2026. The Child LifeSG Credits for children born in 2026 will be disbursed in April 2027.
2) Larger families will also enjoy an annual Large Family LifeSG Credit (LFLC) worth $1,000 during the years that their third and subsequent child turns one to six. For example, families with four children under six will get $2,000 in Large Family LifeSG Credits for their third and fourth child. This will be disbursed in September 2025 for eligible children turning one to six in 2025, and in April in subsequent years.

How To Redeem Your LifeSG Credits?
For those still wondering, this is going to be an easy answer: you do not have to redeem your LifeSG credits. It is automatically disbursed into your LifeSG app.
However, you can only see the LifeSG credits that you have already received on the app. Once you receive the credit, you should also note when they expire so that you can use them up before the expiry date.
– The $200 in National Service (NS) LifeSG Credits, which were disbursed in November 2024. You can also expect to receive similar NS-related LifeSG credits disbursed at specific milestones, including $1,000 at the completion of your Full-Time National Service (FTNS), and $500 at the mid-point and completion of ORNS.
– A one-off $500 in Child LifeSG Credits (CLC) disbursed from the week of 7 July 2025 which will expire one year later (i.e. In July 2026). For 2026, this will be disbursed in July 2026.
– The annual $1,000 Large Family LifeSG Credit (LFLC) will be disbursed in September 2025 and, in subsequent years, will be disbursed in April. Parents with 3 or more children can expect these payouts until their child turns 6. The expiry of the credit is also one year from when you receive it.
If you do not see the credits in your LifeSG app, please contact the relevant Government agency. For example, those who did not get their $200 National Service (NS) LifeSG Credits after November 2024 should contact the NS Call Centre at 1800 367 6767 or email [email protected]
Similarly, if you did not receive your one-off $500 Child LifeSG Credits, you can contact the Baby Bonus and Large Families Scheme hotline: 1800 111 2222.
How You Can Use Your LifeSG Credits?
Once you have received your LifeSG credits, you will be able to view them on the Home page > under the Benefits and support section. You simply have to select “View Details” on the LifeSG credit that you want to use, and select “Scan QR code to pay”.
Specifically for the one-off Child LifeSG Credits and Large Family LifeSG Credits, the Singapore Budget 2025 announcement states that these are provided to families to defray household expenses, such as groceries, utilities, pharmacy items, and/or transport services.
While this may be the intent of the disbursements, you can use the LifeSG Credits to make payment at any online or physical merchants that offer PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR. However, you will not be able to use the LifeSG credits when paying at merchants that use a PayNow QR code that is linked to their personal phone number (instead of their company UEN number). You may want to check with the merchant if your payment does not go through.
If the merchant is using a PayNow UEN QR code or NETS QR code, but you’re unable to use your LifeSG credits to make payment, you can contact LifeSG at [email protected], and include 1) the merchant name, 2) location, 3) date and time of transaction and 4) your mobile device model and software version.
Note that since you need to scan a valid QR code, only phones with a camera can be used to make payment with your LifeSG credits. You also cannot use a Hauwei phone, as LifeSG is not available on the Huawei AppGallery.
