Cost Guide to The Friends Of Wildlife Membership (Singapore Zoo/ River Wonders/ Night Safari/ Bird Park)

Visit Jia Jia and Kai Kai’s new baby as many times as you/the kids want

With school holidays just around the corner, parents or grandparents can plan to take the kids out to see Orangutans at the Singapore Zoo, or pay a visit to Singapore’s resident giant pandas, Kai Kai and Jia Jia. Better yet, visit the Jurong Bird Park before it relocates to Mandai and get renamed as Bird Paradise in 2022. Arranging a day trip to any wildlife park in Singapore can be a good disguise to clock in some steps and get the heart pumping. It also works well to tire your kids out so they can get a good night’s sleep.

For those of us who are planning a (or multiple) trips to one of the Mandai Wildlife Reserves attractions, it may be worth considering taking up a Friends of Wildlife membership.

What Is The Friends Of Wildlife Membership?

The Friends Of Wildlife allows members to access all four parks under the Mandai Wildlife Reserves: Singapore Zoo, River Wonder (formerly River Safari), Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park (which will be renamed to Bird Paradise in 2022).

This is an annual membership with the option of either the Friends of Wildlife pass or the Friends of Wildlife Plus pass. The regular pass includes three blackout dates during which you cannot use the annual pass.

There are many perks when you sign up for the membership. Besides the annual access into the parks, you will enjoy discounts at F&B and retail outlets, complimentary tram rides and extra benefits that are unique to each park.

The complimentary tram rides and 20% off F&B are ideal for a family with little children. You can comb the entire park without worrying your children would be too tired to walk to see the attractions. Since the typical amount of time spent at the parks can take hours or even the whole day, most likely you’ll have to dine at their F&B outlets. Having the Friends of Wildlife membership will help you save costs while placating your hungry children.

Price Of Single Ticket VS The Friends of Wildlife Membership

Wildlife Parks Cost for 2 adults + 2 kids
Singapore Zoo $150
River Wonders $115.20 (Mon-Fri), $121.60 (weekends)
Night Safari $178
Jurong Bird Park $102.60 (Mon-Fri), $108.30 (weekends)

*For youths ages 13 to 17, the ticket costs the same as an adult.

If a family of 4 visits all four parks using the single admission ticket price, the total amount spent would add up to $454.80 to $557.90. Paying $325 (regular) or $405 (plus) for the membership would easily save the family some money.

Getting the regular membership is the most cost-effective option. While paying the entry tickets for Jurong Bird Park three times is cheaper than getting the membership, the membership would be worth it the moment you visit at least 3 different parks. Alternatively, if your family frequently visits the Singapore Zoo or the Night Safari (which has the highest ticket price), the membership is a sure-fire way to save on costs while providing additional benefits. After all, the Zoo is large enough that your children may require multiple trips to appreciate all its animals and activities.

Besides saving on park admission costs, families with young children can save 20% off rental items such as strollers and wagons. Not to mention that tram rides and boat rides are add-on costs for non-members. For example, the Amazon River Quest boat ride at River Wonders and the Singapore Zoo tram ride will cost $5 per adult and $3 per child.

You Can Also Buy Single Admission To Multiple Parks

There is also the option of single admission into multiple parks. There is a 2-park or 4-park option which is geared towards tourists given that the validity of the tickets is only 7 or 14 days. Of course, families can also take up this deal if they are looking for activities during the school holidays.

Multi-Park Deals Cost for 2 adults + 2 children ages 3 to 12 Validity Inclusives
