How Much Have Different Taxi Companies Raised Fares Amid Higher Oil Prices

Trans-cab is the only taxi operator that has not raised its fares so far.

Since the start of March 2026, oil prices have been rising steadily. Shell was the first to raise their 95-octane prices from $2.88 to $2.92 per litre. Prices then rose steadily until reaching a peak of $3.47 per litre, a 20% increase in less than a month. Shell recently reduced the price to $3.42 per litre, though most of its competitors are still maintaining prices at $3.47 per litre. Amid these petrol price hikes, several taxi companies have temporarily increased metered fares.

ComfortDelGro

Singapore’s largest taxi company has implemented temporarily higher charges since March 24. They are expected to be effective till May 31. Metered fares will see the distance-time rate increase by one cent.

ComfortDelGro has also implemented a driver fee for bookings made via their Zig mobile app. Fares below $15 will be charged 50 cents, while fares above $15 will incur an 80-cent driver fee.

Trans-cab

Trans-cab is the only taxi operator that has not raised its fares so far. Instead, it has chosen to offer a $3 vehicle rental rebate from March 10 to April 6, effectively absorbing some of the cost of the rising oil prices.
