Ever since the yuu Rewards Club was introduced almost two years ago, shoppers have enjoyed even more ways to maximise the rewards you earn each time you spend – be it on your daily necessities or discretionary leisure expenses.
But, no comprehensive rewards programme would be complete without easy and attractive access to converting for air miles. From October 2024, you can start converting your yuu Points into Miles.
We look at how your everyday spending can help you earn yuu Points, which you can now convert into an annual holiday in the region with a pair of return tickets to Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong each year.
A Lot More To yuu – With Conversion Of yuu Points To Miles
Come October 2024, yuu Members can start converting yuu Points to Miles – and start accumulating your way to an annual holiday with a return trip for 2 to favourite Singaporean destinations.
Upon earning 1 yuu Point for every dollar you spend, you can convert your yuu Points to Miles at a “conversion rate” of 3.6 yuu Points to 1 Mile. This conversion can be done without any conversion fees.
What’s even better is that when you spend at participating merchants with your DBS yuu Card, you can earn up to 36 yuu points per dollar. With a “conversion rate” of 3.6 yuu Points per mile, it means you can earn up to 10 miles per dollar spent on your DBS yuu Card!
Redeem A Pair Of Return Tickets Using Just yuu Points
Here’s how you can potentially redeem a pair of return trip tickets to a regional holiday destination to Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong each year. Best of all, you can earn this by predominantly spending on things that you would already have spent on in the first place.
With the caveat that you have to hit a $600 minimum monthly spend on your DBS yuu Card, spending on everyday household expenses such as groceries, transportation, food delivery and household essentials can earn you 21,600 yuu Points each month.
Eligible Expenses | Bonus Rate with DBS yuu Card | yuu Points earned with DBS yuu Card (min. $600 monthly spend) |
Groceries at Giant: $260 | 36x | 9,360 yuu Points |
Gojek rides: $240 | 36x | 8,640 yuu Points |
foodpanda deliveries: $50 | 36x | 1,800 yuu Points |
Household essentials at Guardian: $50 | 36x | 1,800 yuu Points |
Total eligible monthly spend: $600 | 36x | 21,600 yuu Points |
Doing this 12 months a year will give you 259,200 yuu Points. Again, using the “conversion rate” of 3.6 yuu Points per Mile, that gives you 72,000 Miles per year.
Eligible DBS yuu Card monthly spend | yuu Points Earned | yuu Points : Miles Conversion | Miles | |
After 1 month | $600 | 21,600 yuu Points | 3.6 yuu Points per Mile | 6,000 Miles |
After 12 months | $7,200 ($600 per month) | 259,200 yuu Points | 3.6 yuu Points per Mile | 72,000 Miles |
Using various airlines’ online miles calculator, you (like us) can easily find that with 72,000 Miles, you will be able to redeem a pair of flight tickets to regional destinations, including those mentioned – Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and more.
Alternatively, you can also use your miles to upgrade your flight to a 1-way Business Class ticket to Japan, Australia and other holiday destinations slightly outside our neighbouring countries.
Earn yuu Points At Over 1,000 Outlets – With More Added All The Time
With over 1.7 million members today, yuu is not only one of the best rewards programmes in Singapore, but also one of the largest. One of the best features of earning yuu Points is that the reward currency can be used across merchants – and as we’ve learned, including converting yuu Points to Miles now.
yuu also makes it very simple to start accumulating rewards for you (pun intended). The base case is that you earn 1 yuu Point for every $1 spent at over 1,000 stores and places islandwide.
There are also ways to boost the amount of yuu Points that you can earn on certain products and services on the yuu App. Besides purchasing the curated products and services that provide “boosted” yuu Points on the app, a second way to boost yuu Points is to simply link your app with your DBS yuu Card to pay for your purchases.
You stand to earn up to 36 yuu Points, which is 36x the normal rate, for each dollar spent at participating yuu merchants. As described, this can mean earning 10 miles per dollar you spend on the DBS yuu Card.
