The world of personal finance often appears intimidating to beginners. There’s lots of financial jargon, multiple products that look the same at first glance, and often, it isn’t easy to know who to trust.
Fortunately, the Seedly Personal Finance Festival 2025 is the perfect place first step for those starting their personal finance journey. Exclusively for DollarsAndSense readers, the Promo Code: DOLLARSANDSENSEPFF100 will give you 100% discount on tickets to the Seedly PFF 2025. Limited to the first 50 sign-ups.
The annual Seedly Personal Finance Festival (PFF) is back in 2025, on 11 October at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Hall F. It will be a day full of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and fireside chats from experts in the personal finance industry and experienced investors on a variety of topics.
In 2025, there are over 20 sessions to attend. The Seedly PFF traditionally splits these speeches and panels between two different stages. This year, they’re known as the Merlion Stage and the Orchid Stage. Since you can’t be in two places at once, here are what we feel should be the 7 must-attend talks for personal finance beginners at Seedly PFF 2025.
#1 Personal Finance 101: Take Control Of Your Money
Time: 10:20am – 10:40am
Location: Orchid Stage
All personal finance beginners should start with this panel, which covers tips on budgeting and expense tracking. Learn more about setting aside an emergency fund and how to use your CPF and insurance plans in your financial planning.
On the panel are Vivienne Ong, representing MoneyOwl by Temasek Trust, which comes up with financial literacy programmes, Cherie Wang, CEO and Founder of Planner Bee, a financial planning mobile app, and Michael Gilmore, co-founder of the Money Awareness and Inclusion Awards.
#2 Growing Together With Singapore
Time: 11:00am – 11:40am
Location: Merlion Stage (Simulcast on the Orchid Stage)
Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance, Jeffrey Siow, will speak in a fireside chat with Rohith Murthy, CEO and Director of MoneyHero Group, Seedly’s parent company.
It will be a valuable opportunity to hear from the Acting Minister, following his long civil service career and recent entry into politics.
The topics for this chat are expected to include insights into building financial resilience, adapting to a changing global environment, and artificial intelligence (AI). Best of all, if you were attending the previous panel at the Orchid Stage, you won’t need to move, as the fireside chat will also be simulcast on the Orchid Stage.
#3 Your First Investment Portfolio: How To Start Investing
Time: 1:00pm – 1:25pm
Location: Orchid Stage
Following the lunch break, head back to the Orchid Stage for the first of two panels at Seedly PFF 2025 on the topic of investing. This panel is geared towards beginner investors as it covers four basic investment assets popular among investors in Singapore – stocks, bonds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and real estate investment trusts (REITs).
The panel includes Ng Xin Yang, head of wealth advisory at uSMART, a brokerage platform, content creator Kel Vin Tan of Kelvin Learns Investing, and Justin Tan, portfolio wealth specialist, Standard Chartered Bank.
The panel will be moderated by our very own co-founder and managing editor, Timothy Ho.
#4 Investor’s Playbook For 2026: Winning Strategies To Maximise Your Wealth
Time: 1:35pm – 2:00pm
Location: Merlion Stage
The investment education continues at the Merlion Stage with a deeper insight into what investment trends we can expect in 2026. Learn about balancing opportunity and risk, and adapting strategies for a changing investment landscape.
On this panel are investment industry experts Oriano Lizza, sales trader at CMC, Isaac Lim, chief market strategist at Moomoo Singapore, and James Ooi, chief market strategist at Tiger Brokers Singapore.
The panel will be moderated by our co-founder, Dinesh Dayani.
#5 Making Your CPF Work Harder: Tactics To Secure Your Home And Build Retirement Income
Time: 3:20pm – 3:45pm
Location: Merlion Stage
Following the investment panels, consider visiting the many booths at the Seedly PFF 2025, but be sure to head back to the Merlion Stage before this CPF panel.
As CPF is a crucial part of every Singaporean’s retirement planning, it is valuable to learn how to optimise your CPF, to ensure your contributions are given the right opportunities to grow. Learn how your CPF savings can be strategically used for retirement, housing, and healthcare, as well as get insights on CPF investments and how they can help you with your long-term retirement goals.
Hear from Gregory Chia, Group Director of Retirement Income at the CPF Board, Providend’s Lena Teng, and So Sin Ting from Endowus. The panel is moderated by Chris Chong of HoneyMoneySG.
#6 Buying Your Dream Home: Understanding Your Budget To Servicing Your Monthly Mortgage
Time: 3:30pm – 3:55pm
Location: Orchid Stage
While most should attend the CPF panel at the Merlion Stage, homeowners in Singapore should definitely make their way to the Orchid Stage for the mortgage panel.
Singapore’s high property prices mean that almost every homeowner is servicing a home loan. However, this is very often the one aspect of personal finance that most don’t realise they can save more on.
Hear from industry veterans like David Baey, co-founder and CEO of Mortgage Master, and Clive Chng, Associate Director of Redbrick Mortgage Advisory, both of whom have been in Singapore’s home loan industry for over a decade. Sebastian Sieber, founder of newly launched fintech startup Cashew will also be on the panel.
The panel will be moderated by Felicia Tan, head of brand and marketing at 99.co.
#7 The Power Of Compounding: How Should You Invest In Your 20s To 40s To Build Wealth
Time: 4:30pm – 4.55pm
Location: Merlion Stage
Finally, to end the day, hear from Thomas Chua, founder of Steady Compounding, a seasoned investor, who left a public service career to share his deep insights and stock research with an ever-growing subscriber base.
His keynote speech will explain how starting investment early impacts the growth of wealth, why consistent contributions to an investment portfolio is crucial, and how to build a strong reinvestment runway.
