Job redesign is a critical part of business transformation. With an ageing workforce and the rapidly evolving digital environment we live in, businesses in Singapore can leverage on new technology as well as government schemes to develop a future-ready workplace.
The Productivity Solutions Grant – Job Redesign was enhanced during the Budget 2021 announcement, with funding levels of up to 80% extended till 31 March 2022. The level of funding will revert to 70% thereafter.

What Is The Productivity Solutions Grant – Job Redesign?
The Productivity Solutions Grant – Job Redesign (PSG-JR) aims to drive companies to implement Job Redesign (JR) initiatives in their workplace. Apart from making jobs more productive and attractive for employees, companies will also have a better chance of hiring and retaining valuable personnel.
Businesses will receive up to 80% funding support of consultancy costs, capped at $30,000, until 31 March 2022. This goes back to the original 70% funding, capped at $30,000 after that. For the remaining amount, businesses can further tap on the SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) of $10,000 to cover up to 90% of their out-of-pocket expenses.
Under the PSG-JR, businesses will be granted access to a pool of JR consultancy support to complement and drive business and workforce transformation. For easier reference, here’s a list of pre-approved JR consultants listed on the Business Grants Portal:
- CET Global Pte Ltd
- EON Consulting & Training Pte Ltd
- Mercer (Singapore) Pte Ltd
- Deloitte Consulting Pte Ltd
- Aon Singapore Pte Ltd
- Ernst & Young Advisory Pte Ltd
Businesses should note that funding will only be provided for consultancy services engaged from the list of pre-approved JR consultants. For more information on the areas of specialisation and type of support provided by different consultancies, click here.
Who Qualifies For the Productivity Solutions Grant – Job Redesign?
All businesses, NGOs, and non-business entities including charities and IPCs can qualify for the PSG-JR should they meet the following criteria:
- Registered/incorporated and operating in Singapore; and
- Have at least 3 local employees at the point of application
In addition to the criteria above, applicants must not have signed any contract or made any payment to a pre-approved JR consultant or third party in relation to the engagement of JR-related consultancy service, at the point of application.
An example of a company that benefitted from the PSG-JR is dim sum restaurant chain – Tim Ho Wan. Together with NTUC’s e2i, the company re-designed various manual job functions to make their workplace easier and smarter for older staff. These improvements include ordering, menu management, tabulation and reporting systems, and saved the company a total of 20-30% in man hours. With this savings, they were able to increase the salary of older employees under the scheme.

How Can Businesses Apply For The Productivity Solutions Grant – Job Redesign?
To apply for the PSG-JR, businesses can submit their application through the Business Grants Portal (BGP) with the required documents – a consultancy proposal, consultant’s quotation, and their latest CPF form 90 for the past 3 months.
Do note that each enterprise (based on Unique Entity Number) can only have 1 approved PSG-JR application.
To maximise funding cap, businesses can choose to embark on multiple JR projects in 1 application. Participating businesses will have up to a year to complete their job redesign project. Should your business require more time to complete the project, a formal request with valid justifications should be submitted to the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), to be approved on a case-by-case basis.
Besides receiving support for consultancy services, businesses can also tap on other PSG schemes concurrently to support the costs of equipment or IT solutions.

What Is The Difference Between PSG-Job Redesign and EDG-Process Redesign?
There is another similar-sounding scheme offered on the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG).
The PSG-JR aims to make jobs more productive and attractive to employees. The scheme under Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) is the EDG – Process Redesign is a tool to help companies grow and transform their business by co-funding projects that help businesses upgrade their business, innovate and venture overseas.
