Most Sought After Jobs In 2025: 5 Roles That Are Still Hiring Strongly In Singapore

It’s an uncertain environment that people are living in today, and Singapore’s economy is no exception. With President Trump’s trade war with China looking like it might be an extended affair, many people are worried about a potential global recession.

Despite all the economic uncertainties, there will always be jobs that are in demand. Even in today’s relatively downbeat environment, Singapore still has employment opportunities for in-demand roles in 2025.

It’s worth understanding which sectors have roles that are in demand and whether these are likely to continue to do well. The Ministry of Manpower released its Labour Market Report for Q4 2024 last month and the numbers paint an interesting story for those looking for a job.

Here are five roles in Singapore that are still hiring strongly in 2025.

#1 Public Administration & Education

If we look at the vacancy numbers from the report, one of the areas with the biggest number of opening was government hiring – especially in the public administration and education space.

This sector had 8,700 vacancies as of the end of December 2024 and that was up slightly from the 8,600 vacancies from the year-ago period. Roles in this area could include office manager, personal assistant (PA) or admin-related roles in educational institutes.

#2 Health & Social Services

Again, the health and social services space comes under the umbrella of Singapore Government spending and here there was an increase in the number of roles available.

As of the end of 2024, there were 6,000 vacancies in Health & Social services, up from the 5,800 at the end of 2023. Roles in this particular sub-sector could include medical-related roles as well as those of social workers, counsellors, psychologists, and therapists.

#3 IT & Other Administration Services

Given the rise of technology in our lives, it’s also not a surprise to see that Information Technology (IT) and other admin roles related to it are in high demand in Singapore.

As of the end of 2024, there were 5,100 vacancies in the sub-sector and – while this number was also high on an absolute basis – it was down from the 5,200 vacancies as of the end of 2023.

Yet some of the most popular roles that firms are hiring for within IT services include things that are seeing strong long-term demand, such as Cloud Security/Threat Intelligence Specialist or Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineer.

#4 Financial Services

As a regional and global hub of financial service firms, it’s no surprise to see that Singapore is still hiring relatively strongly for financial services roles.

However, despite the high total number of vacancies as of the end of 2024 of 4,500, the number of roles actually fell from 6,600 vacancies as of the end of 2023.

In terms of what roles are in demand within the financial services space, according to Hays (a recruiting firm), some of the most popular roles in the space include Corporate Finance Director, Wealth Manager, and Compliance Manager.

Another sector that saw an increase in the number of vacancies was legal, accounting, and management services. As of the end of 2024, open roles in this sub-sector totalled 3,900 and that was up from the 3,600 vacancies reported as of the end of 2023.

For this particular sector, individuals could expect to see roles such as in-house counsel, accounting manager/officer, or consulting-related functions being advertised.
