What Is The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF)?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) is registered as a trade union under the Trade Unions Act, acting as the national trade union of employers (NTUC being the counterpart that represents workers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SNEF works within the tripartite framework to enhance labour market flexibility to enable employers to implement responsible employment practices.\u00a0<\/strong>It currently has a membership of more than 3,800 companies across all sectors of the economy, with a combined workforce of over 860,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SNEF is autonomous and not-for-profit, funded by membership fees and revenue from consultancy, training, research and other activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Benefits For SNEF Members<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

SNEF\u2019s primary role is to represent the concerns and interests of employers in national tripartite committees, forums and national-level reviews. In addition to this important role they play in Singapore\u2019s policy-making and implementation process, SNEF also provides other services to help member companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, SNEF can provide companies with expert consultation<\/a> on matters like labour law, labour policies and tripartite guidelines, including providing you with representation in dispute resolution issues. They can also advise you on building an inclusive and progressive workplace, in areas like workplace health, work-life balance and fair employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SNEF also provides members with regular updates on developments in labour, manpower and employment issues, as well as timely original research on local human resources, employment, and salary trends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a member, you also get access to discounted conferences, workshops, seminars and training programmes, organised by SNEF\u2019s training institute and their partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Much Does A SNEF Membership Cost?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Membership fees for SNEF is based on the number of management and non-management staff under the payroll of the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annual subscription fees are as follows (paid semi-annually, based on the number of employees as at 31 January and 31 July):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first 25 employees<\/td>$350<\/td><\/tr>
For the next 125 employees<\/td>$10 per employee<\/td><\/tr>
For the next 150 employees<\/td>$9 per employee<\/td><\/tr>
For the next 100 employees<\/td>$8 per employee<\/td><\/tr>
Above 400 employees<\/td>No additional fees<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

As you can see, membership fees for even the biggest companies are capped at $3,750 each year. There is also a one-time entrance fee payable, which is $300 for companies with up to 90 employees, or 30% of the annual subscription rate for those with more than 90 employees. Fees are not inclusive of GST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Is The Singapore Business Federation (SBF)?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) was established in 2001 after the SBF Act<\/a> was passed in Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the apex business chamber, SBF became operational in 2002 and aims to champion the interests of the Singapore business community in trade, investment and industrial relations \u2013 both locally and overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By law, all Singapore-registered companies with share capital of $500,000 and above are automatically members of SBF. SBF claims to have over 32,000 member companies, as well as local and foreign business chambers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SBF\u2019s longstanding role is actively engaging with policymakers on areas that affect businesses in Singapore. To support this work, SBF puts out original research and data collected, including an annual\u00a0National Business Survey<\/a>, a quarterly\u00a0SME Sentiment Index<\/a>\u00a0survey,\u00a0post-Budget surveys<\/a>, as well as\u00a0position papers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Benefits For SBF Members<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

SBF provides members with opportunities to network and expand overseas by taking part in outgoing business missions as well as incoming visits by business delegations. Each year, SBF hosts over 100 incoming business delegations and leads close to 40 overseas missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abroad, SBF serves as the National Committee representative<\/a> of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), including facilitating ICC Arbitrations. SBF also participates in other international business forums like the ASEAN Business Advisory Council<\/a>, Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council<\/a>, and B20<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned earlier, all Singapore-registered companies with paid-up capital or authorised share capital of $500,000 and above are automatically Statutory Members of SBF. Here’s how much they have to pay as members of SBF:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
