Juggling between conference calls, looming deadlines and kids who require constant attention is no easy feat. If you\u2019re working from home with kids, here are five tips to staying productive while taking on the roles of a stay-home parent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

#1 Plan a Schedule<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Now with parenting tasks on top of work\nresponsibilities, getting organised is essential. Allocating time blocks for\nparticular tasks will not only create a workflow, but it\u2019ll also help with\nincreasing productivity levels and familiarise your kids with your work\nroutine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said, telecommuting does allow more room flexibility \u2013 so it\u2019s okay to tend to a fussing young one even if you\u2019re in the middle of a work task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, pre-plan and prep your meals for the following\nday the night before. This way, all you need to do is to pop the ingredients\ninto the pot and you\u2019re all set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#<\/strong>3 Capitalise On Nap Time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With the kids sound asleep and not having you to\nconstantly keep an eye on them, nap times are best reserved for work that\nrequires absolute focus and concentration. These are also the perfect time to\nschedule calls or video conferences, where you\u2019re unlikely to be interrupted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

#4 Plan for Activities That Require Minimal Supervision<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If nap times aren\u2019t working out, occupy your little\nones with activities such as reading, colouring or other craft-based\nactivities. This way, you\u2019ll be able to get some quiet time before the kids\ngrow restless. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even so, resist attending to your kids immediately once they start fussing in order to allow them to learn to soothe themselves. If you\u2019re uncomfortable with leaving them alone in the room for extended periods of time, consider installing a baby monitor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such efforts at instilling good behaviour will\ngo a long way in minimising disruptions in the long run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For your kids to pick up on the desired behaviour, practice\nyour work routine with them, to familiarise them with your schedule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While being a stay-home working parent is challenging, we assure you that working from home with kids  can be done. With enough planning and practice, you\u2019ll be able to enjoy the perks of telecommuting, as well as the quality time spent with your kids. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
