{"id":14055,"date":"2025-10-12T14:58:33","date_gmt":"2025-10-12T06:58:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dollarsandsense.sg\/business\/?p=14055"},"modified":"2025-10-12T14:58:34","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T06:58:34","slug":"sg-heritage-business-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dollarsandsense.sg\/business\/sg-heritage-business-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"What Is The SG Heritage Business Scheme \u2013 And Who Are The 42 Heritage Businesses In 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Singapore\u2019s story isn\u2019t just told through its buildings and museums \u2013 it\u2019s also told through the neighbourhood bakeries and restaurants, bookstores and florists, and clothing and jewellery shops that have served generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To celebrate and preserve these living links to our cultural past, the\u00a0National Heritage Board (NHB)\u00a0 introduced the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhb.gov.sg\/what-we-do\/our-work\/sector-development\/sg-heritage-business-scheme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SG Heritage Business Scheme<\/a>, a new initiative recognising long-standing local enterprises that have become part of Singapore\u2019s cultural landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SG Heritage Business Scheme&nbsp;goes beyond giving out plaques or titles. Businesses recognised under the SG Heritage Business Scheme receive:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Brand visibility &amp; Awareness:<\/strong>&nbsp;Promotion by government agencies and partners through various marketing and programming channels.<\/li><li><strong>Markers of Heritage Status:<\/strong>&nbsp;A storefront plaque, and supporting materials, including digital logos, for use on their social media and websites.<\/li><li><strong>Business support:<\/strong>&nbsp;Support for business improvement and transformation efforts, tailored to the business size and needs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme aims to help these heritage businesses&nbsp;stay relevant while staying true&nbsp;to their roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025,\u00a042 businesses\u00a0were officially designated as the first batch of\u00a0SG Heritage Businesses, marking a milestone in Singapore\u2019s efforts to honour not just artefacts of heritage, but the enterprises that continue to keep it alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Read Also: <a href=\"https:\/\/dollarsandsense.sg\/business\/business-awards-in-singapore-that-recognises-smes-capabilities\/\">4 Business Awards In Singapore That Recognise SMEs Capabilities<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"the-42-sg-heritage-businesses-of-2025\"><strong>The 42 SG Heritage Businesses of 2025<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After reviewing more than 80 nominations, NHB designated&nbsp;42 businesses&nbsp;as SG Heritage Businesses for 2025. NHB added that the diversity of this list was intentional \u2013 reflecting Singapore\u2019s multicultural character and the many ways heritage businesses contribute to the vibrancy of their precincts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"how-are-sg-heritage-businesses-selected\"><strong>How Are SG Heritage Businesses Selected?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NHB assesses each business through a structured set of criteria focusing on&nbsp;authenticity, longevity, and local roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify, businesses must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Be registered and operating in Singapore<\/li><li>Be in continuous operation for at least 30 years as of 1 January 2025, excluding (i) short-term closures for holiday or other purposes, (ii) closure during the Covid-19 pandemic, not exceeding 2 years or (iii) such other closures if NHB deems appropriate to accept for consideration, at NHB\u2019s sole discretion<\/li><li>Have at least 30% local equity held directly or indirectly by Singaporean(s) and\/or Singapore PRs, determined by the ultimate individual ownership<\/li><li>Be located in the Central Area (for the pilot, and NHB will review this for subsequent iterations)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But longevity alone isn\u2019t enough.
