Despite this, only around 55% (according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msf.gov.sg\/media-room\/article\/Opening-And-Closing-Speeches-By-Minister-Of-State-Sun-Xueling-At-The-Second-Reading-Of-The-Child-Development-Co-Savings-Amendment-Bill#:~:text=Over%20the%20years%2C%20paternity%20leave,in%20less%20conventional%20working%20arrangements.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2019 study<\/a> by the Ministry of Social and Family Development) of working fathers have used their 2-week parental leave entitlement, with one reason being a lack of support from companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To encourage more companies to adopt innovative and father-friendly workplaces beyond stipulated legislation, the Centre for Fathering (CFF), DADs for Life, and MUMs for Life initiated the <a href=\"https:\/\/fathers.com.sg\/12-organisations-recognised-for-innovative-hr-policies-that-support-fathers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Great Companies for Dads Awards<\/a> in 2021. In its second edition this year, the award recognises outstanding organisations with policies and practices that support working fathers to thrive both at home and in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the 22 companies across the public, private, and people sectors that participated in the awards, the following five winners exemplified outstanding workplace policies that other companies can also adopt in equal measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Read Also: <a href=\"https:\/\/dollarsandsense.sg\/business\/government-paid-paternity-leave-singapore-fathers\/\">Guide To Understanding How Government-Paid Paternity Leave Works in Singapore<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"1-animal-avian-veterinary-clinic-aavc-supporter-of-sg-made-for-families-initiative\"><strong>#1 Animal &amp; Avian Veterinary Clinic (AAVC) \u2013 Supporter Of SG Made For Families Initiative<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>AAVC is a veterinary clinic with a team of 13, comprising 6 men and 7 women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its establishment in August 2007, AAVC prides itself as being a work-life balance clinic by offering its staff flexible work arrangements and medical leaves to care for their sick children, when required. It also champions other workplace causes like life-long learning, corporate social responsibility and volunteerism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To reinforce its commitment to work-life balance, AAVC has pledged support for the SG Made For Families Initiative. Launched by the National Population and Talent Division in the Strategy Group, companies can adopt the Made For Families brand mark to show their commitment to going beyond leave policies and offering pro-family measures to help employees manage their work and family responsibilities. This may include making space for a nursing room, tying up with an on-site childcare centre, or encouraging fathers to take their paternity leave. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"2-city-developments-limited-cdl-emphasises-on-engaging-employees-and-receiving-feedback-on-workplace-policies\"><strong>#2 City Developments Limited (CDL) \u2013 Emphasises On Engaging Employees And Receiving Feedback On Workplace Policies<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>CDL is a locally listed real estate company that has a global network spanning 104 locations in 29 countries and regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the workplace policies that it adopted include giving employees more flexibility and choices in terms of the way they work and where they work. CDL also offers up to four weeks of paternity leave, allowing fathers to spend time and bond with their newborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another initiative that CDL does is to foster engagement with employees through programs like thematic podcasts and feedback sessions to better boost staff morale and align with the company\u2019s goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"3-focus-on-the-family-singapore-ltd-foster-engagement-among-men-in-the-office-to-share-their-experiences-as-sons-husbands-and-fathers\"><strong>#3 Focus on the Family Singapore Ltd \u2013 Foster Engagement Among Men In The Office To Share Their Experiences As Sons, Husbands, And Fathers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Focus on the Family Singapore is a local Christian charity with Institution of Public Character (IPC) status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur innovative HR policy is not to have too many policies, instead, we encourage staff to practice work-life based on their personal needs,\u201d said Mr Martin Lim, Chief Relationship Officer. Aside from offering FlexiWork arrangements, Family Care Leave, on-site ad-hoc Child Support, and First Day of School Leave, Focus on the Family Singapore organises signature events such as \u201cDate with Dad\u201d and \u201cAdventure with Dad\u201d for fathers to bond with their children. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a partner with Centre for Fathering, Focus on the Family adopted the \u201cI CAN Fathering\u201d workshop during the COVID period to help working fathers in the organisation. This allows working fathers to also play an active role in their families. MSF also supports initiatives from the Centre of Fathering such as \u201cEat with your Family Day\u201d and \u201cBack to School with Dad\u201d that provides opportunities for fathers to bond with their children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"5-partior-a-business-driven-by-outcomes-rather-than-work-hours-in-the-office\"><strong>#5 Partior \u2013 A Business Driven By Outcomes Rather Than Work Hours In The Office<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Partior is a blockchain-based technology provider that is enabling the next generation of cross-border payments and value exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees at Partior are offered the autonomy to integrate their work and family commitments through a variety of ways.
